Scotland managed to produce yet another fantastic performance last night as we ended our World Cup qualifying group with an impressive 2-0 win over group winners Denmark. We will now head into the play-offs as we look to reach our first World Cup since 1998.
The Danes hadn’t dropped a single point before hitting Hampden yesterday, yet Scotland made them look pretty ordinary. That shows you how good we have become under boss Steve Clarke.
For me, our star man was solo hitman Che Adams.
Some people questioned the Southampton man’s first call-up because he wasn’t born in Scotland. Others pointed to the fact Adams had turned down an earlier approach from then Scots boss Alex McLiesh a few years ago. But no one can now doubt the striker’s commitment nor his ability.
Yesterday; Che fought for every ball, he ran his socks off and led expertly from the front. Simply put Che Adams gave his absolute all for the Tartan Army. I have no doubt that the Danish side will have respected Che Adams’ performance.
His pace and clever runs had the Danish defence on their toes for the full ninety minutes. The attacker was even winning headers, his link-up play was sublime and he made sure the ball stuck to him as much as possible whenever it was played up to him with little to no support around him.
No other player on the park managed to better Che Adams’ three strikes at goal. He was a continued threat.
As well as being hard-working, much in the mould of a player like Kenny Miller, Adams has also come up with some important strikes in his first thirteen caps for Scotland. That now includes a well composed finish that put Denmark to the sword last night.
Wow! Special feeling.. thank you Hampden 😍💙🏴 pic.twitter.com/pHzRSB5H7x

The twenty-five year old has flourished since making his international debut in March of this year. He also seems to be loving life as an international forward as he has noted on social media:
Hampden nights are something else. Hope you enjoyed that one 🔥🏴 pic.twitter.com/e5rxLLJw9A

Adams was one of the players that saluted the Tartan Army after the final whistle last night and handed over his shirt to one of the lucky supporters.
Che Adams worked for the team and gave his absolute all. That’s why I love this squad, they all stand up for each other and for the nation.
He was sensational last night and it was a joy being in Hampden to view that performance!
