Stenhousemuir FC Sticking By Fans And Local Community

Date: 17th June 2022

It has been a big week for many Scottish clubs as they’ve been releasing various content showing off their latest kits for the 2022/23 season. Home strips, away shirts and third kits from various teams have been shown off using glossy pictures or with well put together video packages.

Yet Stenhousemuir Football Club have come out and released something a bit different…

Instead of releasing a sparkly new range of kits The Warriors have released a statement saying that for the new campaign they will be keeping the same attire they wore last term!

The reason for this has been the current cost of living crisis that has engulfed our nation and the rest of the world. Stenhousemuir simply don’t want to burden their support with an extra extravagance that some of their faithful will struggle to afford, so they’ve done the honourable thing and kept last year’s kit.

Everyone associated with Scottish football should applaud this decision!

Now some sceptical people (this is Scottish football after all) out there might say ‘Ah but Stenny have increased their season ticket prices!’. This is indeed true and the club have again been extremely open and honourable about this issue. They have increased the prices slightly but only to what the prices for these tickets would have cost pre pandemic. Plus The Community Club have also kept in place the pay monthly scheme that again will help ease the financial costs for those that can’t afford to splurge out a lump sum at this time of year when families are hoping to go on holidays or pay the ever increasing food, petrol and electricity bills. It should also be noted that a limited number of Under-16s can still claim free season tickets via a community partnership the club has with Your Equipment Solutions.

In 2021, Supporters Direct Scotland visited Stenhousemuir FC at Ochilview Park and we were extremely impressed in how the central belt based club came out during the Covid pandemic and made itself available in so many different and vital ways to help out the local community (the video is available below).

It would be fantastic if more clubs in Scotland would build such strong links with their local community as Stenhousemuir have done with theres. To put fans first in such tough times is what football should be about and Stenny certainly lead the way in my opinion.
