Hosted by Supporters Direct Scotland
Date: 30th January 2014
On 17 April 2014 A la Nantaise, l’Association des Amoureux du FC Nantes and Supporters Direct Europe will organise a one-day conference at the French Sénat in Paris. The event will be open to key political and football stakeholders, as well as supporters interested in establishing supporters’ trusts at their clubs.
The event has two primary aims:
A la Nantaise and Supporters Direct Europe have been working together since 2010, in order to spread the concept of supporter ownership and involvement in France: amongst supporters as well as political and footballing stakeholders. Following the emergence of new supporters’ trusts, the gathering of cross-party support for supporter ownership and involvement, and the establishment of a Government expert group with a mandate to examine the sustainability of French football; the time is ripe to discuss these issues on the national level.
The ‘Football Durable’ working group, chaired by MP and former minister Jean Glavany, delivered its report to Minister for Sport Valérie Fourneyron yesterday. Having heard evidence from A la Nantaise in December, the report describes supporter ownership and involvement as one way of ensuring better management of clubs, reflecting an opinion expressed by a range of cross-party figures last year.
