We all know in normal circumstances Scotland would be playing Ukraine in a World Cup play-off tie this Thursday night at Hampden.
But unfortunately Ukraine has more important things to be dealing with at the moment and a football match isn’t any sort of priority for them as they defend their country.
As the Russian invasion continues, the people of Ukraine need the help from others.
The Scottish footballing community has stepped forward to do it’s bit.
Tartan Army devotee and The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal member Clark Gillies has been a hero, helping out in various ways.
We caught up with Clark this weekend at Hampden to hear about his efforts and his love for Ukraine and it’s people:
Clark is an inspiration!
As he mentioned, Dnipro Kids (Set up by Hibs supporters) have also stepped up and made a huge impact on Ukrainian lives that need urgent help!
Donations to Dnipro Kids and The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal will really help those that need it the most right now.
It was fantastic to see Stirling Albion and their fans make a substantial donation to The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal with over £100o from their recent gate going to the charity!
Hi @HibernianFC – you have a new fan on this bus. Arthur is 12 and he’s never been able to go to a football match before. @DniproKids have just told him you’ve invited all of these Ukrainian children to see your stadium. He’s now studying your squad & history on his phone. pic.twitter.com/tBKAxyskVh

Hibs have invited a group of refugees to their stadium once they arrive in Scotland, again this should be applauded.
Instead of playing Ukraine this week, Scotland’s men’s team will now take on Poland in Glasgow. The SFA have announced that £10 from every ticket sold for that friendly will go to Unicef’s emergency appeal in Ukraine. So far over 33,000 tickets have been sold. That’s brilliant!
Well done to Clark Gillies and to Scottish football. Once again we have stepped forward when others have been in need. Let’s continue to do our bit to help.
