Colours of our Scarves – Livingston FC

Supporters Direct Scotland (SDS) made the journey to Livingston on Saturday for the latest Colours of our Scarves exhibition. The government-funded programme aims to let football fans and those living in the surrounding areas to voice their opinions on sectarianism in their local area.

After a successful pilot period at the end of last season that covered Dundee, Leith, Falkirk and Hamilton, SDS will be visiting the remaining league grounds across the country before the end of the 2014/15 season. As well as the photographic exhibition at each stadium, the project will also include focus groups and engagement with local schools and community groups.

There was a fantastic response from the Livingston supporters that we surveyed – both to our work on the day and the aims of the programme. One of the key messages of Colours of our Scarves is that although sectarianism is an issue that can vocally manifest itself at football grounds and between supporters, it is at large a society problem. This was a point that many we spoke to at the ground agreed with and appreciated.

SDS would like to extend our thanks to everyone at Livingston FC and the supporters for making us feel very welcome and ensuring that our delivery on the day went as smoothly as possible.
